Product story

Vintage Taxco Mexican Sterling Silver Amethyst Link Brace...

  • Description
Up for sale is a stunning, substantial mid-century modernist panel bracelet handcrafted in Taxco, Mexico. Featuring a beautiful heavy silver weight and high-quality construction, this is a true collector's piece.
    Design Details:
The bracelet is composed of articulated silver links adorned with vibrant, natural purple amethyst cabochon gemstones. The stones are securely bezel-set and framed by distinctive silver ball/bead accents, giving the piece an impressive three-dimensional, architectural look.
    Hallmarks & Authenticity:
The reverse side of the box clasp is crisply stamped with two important historical hallmarks:
    1. "MEXICO SILVER" – The incised lettering typically utilized by Taxco silversmiths during the 1930s and 1940s.
    2. The Eagle "3" Assay Mark – The official Mexican government stamp introduced in 1948. The number 3 specifically designates Taxco as the location of production and assaying.
Together, these stamps precisely date this piece to the late 1940s or early 1950s transition era.
    Specifications:
    • Length: 8 inches (A rare, highly wearable length for vintage Mexican panel bracelets!)
    • Total Weight: 81.8 grams (Very heavy, solid silver feel on the wrist)
    • Width: 1 1/4"
    • Closure: Secure internal box clasp with integrated safety chain.
    Condition:
Excellent vintage condition. The silver retains its original, untouched dark patina in the crevices, perfectly highlighting the modernist design lines. The box clasp snaps tightly shut. The amethyst cabochons are intact, showing gorgeous natural internal veining and inclusions characteristic of genuine earth-mined stones, with no major chips or cracks.
